Make sure your profile is ready. A complete profile helps employers review you faster, and it saves time on every application.
- Sign in, or create a free account if you don’t have one.
- Open Settings > Profile and add:
- your current location and the time zones you can work in
- a CV in PDF format, up to 5 MB
- links to a portfolio, GitHub or LinkedIn profile, if relevant
- Click Save profile.
Applying to a job
Every listing has an Apply button at the top and bottom of the page. What happens next depends on how the employer set up the job.
Apply on HireWise
- Click Apply.
- Review the information that will be shared. Your name, email and CV are filled in from your profile.
- Answer any extra questions from the employer.
- Some questions are required and marked with an asterisk.
- Free-text answers are limited to 2,000 characters.
- Add a cover letter if you like. It is optional unless the employer says otherwise.
- Click Submit application.
You will receive a confirmation email within a few minutes.
Apply on the employer’s site
Some jobs show Apply on company site instead. These open the employer’s own careers page in a new tab. We can’t track the status of these applications automatically, but you can add them to your tracker manually under Applications > Add external application.
Tip: Save jobs you’re interested in with the bookmark icon, then apply in one sitting. Saved jobs are listed under Applications > Saved.
Tracking your applications
Open Dashboard > Applications to see every job you have applied to. Each application shows one of these statuses:
| Status |
What it means |
| Submitted |
The employer has received your application but hasn’t opened it yet. |
| Viewed |
Someone on the hiring team has opened your application. |
| In review |
The employer has shortlisted you or is still deciding. |
| Interview |
The employer has invited you to an interview. Check your email for details. |
| Offer |
You have received an offer through HireWise. |
| Not selected |
The employer has decided not to move forward. |
| Closed |
The job was closed before a decision was made. |
Status changes appear within a few minutes, and you can choose to receive them by email. See Setting up job alerts and email notifications for details.
Following up and withdrawing
- Follow up: if your application has been in Submitted or Viewed for more than 14 days, a Send follow-up button appears. You can use it once per application.
- Withdraw: open the application and click Withdraw. The employer will see that you withdrew, but not why.
