About the role
The Media Services infrastructure team in Paris keeps streaming, downloads and catalogue services running for millions of people across Europe. Traffic is uneven: it can triple in a few minutes when a popular series releases a new episode at 09:00 CET on a Friday.
We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to help us prepare for those moments. You will join a team of nine engineers working on-site in our Paris office, and you will collaborate daily with teams in Cupertino, Cork and Munich.
What you’ll do
- Design and run capacity tests ahead of major releases, then adjust autoscaling and caching rules based on the results.
- Improve observability across the stack:
- define service level objectives with each product team
- build dashboards and alerts that point to causes, not only symptoms
- remove noisy alerts. Last quarter we cut paging volume by 38%, and we want to keep going.
- Take part in an on-call rotation, about one week in six, with compensation for every on-call day.
- Lead blameless post-incident reviews and follow up on the action items.
- Automate routine work, from certificate rotation to node replacement.
What we’re looking for
- Five or more years running production systems at scale.
- Deep Linux knowledge and experience with container orchestration, especially Kubernetes.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Python or Swift. You will write production code, not only scripts.
- A methodical approach to incidents: you stay calm, communicate clearly and write things down.
- Professional working proficiency in English. French is useful but not required.
Nice to have
- Experience with content delivery networks and video streaming protocols.
- Familiarity with chaos engineering or game-day exercises.
- Contributions to open source tooling for monitoring or deployment.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary of €72,000–€90,000, plus restricted stock units and an annual bonus.
- 25 days of paid leave plus 10 RTT days (reduced working time days), as is common in France.
- Comprehensive health coverage (mutuelle) for you and your family.
- 50% reimbursement of your Navigo transit pass, as required by French law, and an additional €600/year sustainable mobility allowance.
- An on-site role in central Paris, with standard hours of 09:30–18:00 and flexibility around on-call weeks.
How to apply
Please send your CV and a short description of an incident you helped resolve, focusing on how you found the root cause. Two or three paragraphs are enough.
Our process takes about four weeks:
- A screening call with a technical recruiter.
- A systems design interview, where we scale a simple service together.
- A troubleshooting exercise on a broken Linux environment.
- Interviews with the hiring manager and a partner team.
All candidates must be eligible to work in France or the EU. More details are on the company profile, and you can also look at other infrastructure roles.
