Posting your first job

A step-by-step guide for employers: create a company profile, write a clear listing, choose a plan and publish your first job on HireWise.

Before you start

Posting a job on HireWise takes about 10 minutes if you have the details ready. Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • An employer account. If you don’t have one yet, create a free account and choose I’m hiring on the first screen.
  • A company profile with a logo, a short description and your website. Candidates check this page before they apply, so it is worth filling in properly.
  • The basic facts about the role: title, location, salary range and how candidates should apply.

Tip: Listings that include a salary range receive on average 2.4 times more applications than listings without one. In some regions, such as several US states and parts of the EU, salary ranges are also a legal requirement.

Step 1: Set up your company profile

  1. Sign in and open Dashboard > Company.
  2. Upload your logo.
    • Use a square PNG or SVG, at least 256 × 256 pixels.
    • Logos with a transparent background look best on both light and dark themes.
  3. Add a description of 50 to 300 words. Focus on what the company does and who it serves.
  4. Click Save company.

Your profile will then appear on the companies page once your first job is published.

Step 2: Fill in the job details

Open Jobs > New job or go straight to the Post a job page. The form has the following fields:

Field Required Notes
Job title Yes Keep it under 60 characters. Avoid internal titles such as “Engineer II”.
Location Yes City and country, or “Remote” with the allowed time zones.
Work arrangement Yes Remote, Hybrid or On-site.
Employment type Yes Full-time, Part-time, Contract or Internship.
Salary range Recommended Use the local currency, for example €60,000–€72,000.
Category Yes Used for filters and job alerts.
Tags No Up to 8 lowercase tags, such as react or customer success.
Application deadline No Must be at least 7 days after the publish date.

Step 3: Write the description

The description editor supports headings, lists, bold and italic text, and links. A clear structure helps candidates scan the listing quickly:

  1. About the role: two or three sentences on why the role exists.
  2. What you’ll do: five to seven concrete tasks.
  3. What we’re looking for: real requirements only. Move “nice to haves” into their own section.
  4. Compensation and benefits: salary, leave, and any stipends or allowances.
  5. How to apply: what to send and what the interview process looks like.

You can see examples of well-structured listings on the jobs page, for instance this Senior Frontend Engineer role.

Step 4: Choose how candidates apply

You have two options:

  • Apply on HireWise: candidates send their CV and answers through our form, and you review them in your dashboard.
  • External link: candidates are sent to your own careers page or applicant tracking system.

If you use an external link, we check that it works before publishing. Broken links are the most common reason a listing is held for review.

Step 5: Preview, pay and publish

  1. Click Preview to see exactly what candidates will see.
  2. Select a plan. Prices are listed on the pricing page.
  3. Enter your billing details and click Publish job.

You will receive a confirmation email with a link to the live listing. To make changes later, see Editing or closing a job listing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does it take for a new listing to go live?

Most listings are published within 15 minutes. First-time employers go through a short manual review, which usually takes less than 4 business hours.

  • Do I need a paid plan to post a job?

Yes. Every listing needs an active Starter, Growth or Pro plan. You can choose a plan during checkout and cancel it at any time from your billing settings.

  • Can I post a job for a company I don't work for?

Recruitment agencies can post on behalf of clients, but the listing must name the hiring company and you must have written permission from that company.

  • Can I save a listing as a draft?

Yes. Click Save draft at any point. Drafts are kept for 60 days and you can find them under Jobs > Drafts in your dashboard.
